Abstract

Emophilia and interpersonal relationships

Presentation Date: Feb 14, 2026

AGSA Abstract

Abstract

Emophilia is a condition where individuals fall in love easily while anxious attachment refers to a heightened sensitivity to rejection and fear of abandonment in intimate relationships. This study predicted that both emophilia and anxious attachment would positively correlate with infidelity tendencies. Students (N=94) completed measures assessing emophilia, attachment styles, and infidelity. Results revealed positive correlations for both anxious attachment (r = 0.178, p= 0.04) and emophilia (r = 0.266, p= 0.005) with infidelity. Emophilia demonstrated a stronger relationship. These results support the significance of personal dispositions for understanding extradyadic behaviors.
